Interior Design

Interior design is about the creation of functional and beautiful interiors that positively impact mood and wellbeing whether in your home or office, in shops or restaurants, and even in show homes and on exhibition stands.

Good interior design should reflect your personality and taste and could even increase the value of your property.

Central to interior design is the imaginative and effective use of light, space, colour, pattern and texture, the ability to visualise and plan in 3D and then explain to you how the room will look so that you too can visualise it, and most designers will work with you to create the space you want down to interior finishes such as furniture and flooring.

Depending on the course they have taken some designers will have a level of architectural knowledge that will allow them to plan the physical alteration of a space, removing or adding according to what is needed say in a bathroom or kitchen. Not all designers have studied this far though so check the qualifications your choses designer holds.

The British Institute of Interior Design is one professional body that has strict experience and qualification standards for its members and requires Continuing Professional Development from its members to ensure they are up to date with new legislation and design ideas and also adhere to a code of professional and ethical conduct.

Very helpful in finding a local consulting engineer to design the structural steel frame for a single storey rear extension in Chestfield. Anne Chapman has provided an excellent service in assisting with this project. Calling on a great deal of experience in the construction industry, she has demonstrated professionalism and a proactive problem solving approach to completing what has been a small but complex design. Very pleased, thank you.
