Alastair specialises in the provision of arboricultural advice in relation to planning and building development (BS5837) - solving problems before they arise. He also has extensive experience in relation to trees and the law - particulary within the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 and associated Tree Preservation Regulations.

Alastair is a Fellow of the Arboricultural Association and has worked within the arboricultural and land based sectors for over 20 years. In addition to his consultancy experience, he has 13 years as the Senior Tree Officer within a local authority planning department, responsible for the management of the planning tree service; providing consultancy advice in relation to trees and landscaping on development sites, and for discharging the duties and powers of the authority in relation to Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) and trees in Conservation Areas (CA). These duties have included the provision of expert witness evidence within the planning process, the civil courts, and in relation to TPO/CA enforcement within the criminal courts.
