Party Wall Surveyor

A party wall is one that divides two adjoining properties above or below ground and alterations to or extensions of it are controlled by the Part Wall etc  Act 1996.

If you want to, for instance, extend your property,  you and your neighbour should both appoint a surveyor (jointly or individually) who will draw up a Party Wall Agreement,  which will set out how the work should be done, acceptable working hours and what should happen in case of damage. The surveyor(s) should also prepare a schedule of the condition of the adjoining neighbour’s house so that subsequent damage can be properly attributed.

It is important to note that the surveyor is impartial and their primary role is to ensure that the Act is complied with, so it is important that the surveyor you choose is qualified and experienced in this area. Also, once appointed the surveyor cannot, by law, be sacked, they can only rescind the appointment if they are unable to act, and must state so in writing.

What do our Customers say about our Surveyors?

We ask all of the people who request details from our website to let us have any feedback they may have.  These are some of their comments:

We used Steve Campbell Associates, Chartered Consultancy. We employed Steve in a party wall matter. His service and advice were immaculate, and he clearly had lots of experience of, and great knowledge of, party wall regulations. He responded quickly and helpfully to all enquiries, even when he was on holiday. We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending him.
