Promptness of response :  He responded within a day to my initial query, then turned up at the agreed time on 7 February. He is proving a little slower than I expected on writing up his report, although he did give me verbal advice while we walked round together.
Quality of service :  I wanted the report of an independent surveyor on the suitability of my house roof for taking the additional weight of solar panels and he was very thorough. others I approached wanted to only give a general surveyor's report, even though I explained I was only interested in the condition of the roof.
Value for money :  Surveyors always seem expensive to me, but he offered a discount as I did not want a full general survey, so I'm happy and so was he.
Professionalism :  I've only marked him down from "strongly agree" because I still don't have his written report after 9 days, although I can still book a roofer on the information he gave me during his visit. I would call on him again if I required a surveyor again.

I instructed Lamar Chartered Surveyors to carry out a buildings survey for me on an Edwardian property. I spoke with Donna to organise the survey, who was really helpful and professional and managed to organise the survey within a couple of days, given the transaction was time pressured. She clearly explained the terms and conditions and what the survey would cover and was always prompt at responding to any queries I had. Mr Daniyel Munir carried out the survey and called me following the survey to speak to me in detail about his findings at the property. Daniyel was a very professional and experienced surveyor, who provided a very detailed and helpful report in plain language that I could easily understand. The report pinpointed the major repairs that would be required to the property and importantly pointed out key risks with regards to future maintenance. Promptness of response :  I was pleased that they followed up immediately to my enquiry and that they were able to provide an accelerated survey service.
Quality of service :  The survey was carried as promised and the report prepared promptly and delivered on the date agreed. As with all survey reports it contained a lot of standard disclaimers and general cautionary comments and generalities. The initial report did not address two additional agreed items and where specific comments were made the language used was not clear in some respects and required follow up questions. The surveyor was slow to respond to the follow up questions and in the eventual phone call to address these apparently had not taken time to pre-read the points sent in writing and therefore was not properly prepared in advance. The eventual explanations and written responses were partially satisfactory.
Value for money :  Overall the report and subsequent clarifications were helpful and the price was competitive.
Professionalism :  The sales call was professional, the surveyor was also professional but could have been clearer in the written report and been better prepared to respond to follow up questions.

We used Lamar Surveyors for the building survey to our property in Harlesden. Daniel was very informative and knowledgeable and was able to give us some initial feedback on the major sticking points, ahead of the final report which took one week to arrive. Together with his valuation report and building survey report, we were able to negotiate an allowance from the Vendor which will allow us to address the major repairs needing immediate attention. The only criticism I would say is that we werent provided his contact details to get in touch directly, rather we had to go through the Customer Relations Manager every time, which was a bit long winded. Also we were advised the report would be with us earlier than the time that it actually arrived, which was a bit disappointing (as we needed it for the builders review), but Daniel was able to provide telephone support in place of this which helped a lot. Our broker recommended Lamar Surveyor's and I can say that from the few quotes we had received outside of our Broker's recommendation, Lamar Surveyor's was the lowest and most reasonable for the Building Survey report. Overall, I would recommend Lamar Surveyors!

Underfloor ventilation air bricks were stated as not "found" on two sides of the property but no indication of if any were found when there are some clearly easily identifiable - causing unnecessary concerns!

The building survey report was very comprehensive and defects were highlighted clearly with photographs and breakdown of repair costs. I was not happy with the market valuation figure.
